There were still even farms in East Hanover! I remember my mother buying milk at Lone Pine Farms in their little shop. I don't think I ever even went into the shop. I would go out to pet the horse.We would also go to the Two Guys on Route 10 in East Hanover. Route 10 didn't have 1 million stores like it does now. I remember Two Guys, Capitol Lighting (which is still there), a miniature golf course, and a few other shops.When I was very young, Two Guys still had a full-fledged grocery section, where my mother would shop. Golf is usually a quiet and reserved sport, but at Sunday’s Athletes First Classic, it was anything but. Local golf enthusiasts joined pro football players including Aaron Rodgers (Green Bay Packers), Brandon Jacobs (New York Giants), Mark Sanchez (New York Jets), Matt Cassell (Kansas City Chiefs), Reggie Wayne (Indianapolis Colts) and many more for a raucous 18 holes of fun. They were treated to NeuroGasm cocktails, a DJ, massages and a pole dancing demonstration! The off course activities were more than enough for many of the players to forget about golfing and spend the afternoon sipping on NeuroGasm and vodka, while watching the dances. A few of the football players even took their own turn on the pole! The tournament was not just about fun and games, it was supporting a great cause – The Orangewood Children’s Foundation. The Orangewood Foundation has been serving abused and neglected children in the area for over 25 years.

Took some time away from fishing yesterday to watch the guys out on the golf course. They were using a method I hadn't seen before, to get rid of the pesky ground squirrels and gophers/moles. I heard the booms before I even got there. I set up the tripod and had a blast... pardon the pun!

I couldn't HELP thinking of Caddyshack while this was going on...

I arrived! This was actually quite an accomplishment for me since I detest flying. But our Air Tran flight was easy breezy. I did have a small breakfast cocktail to calm some nerves, but leaving snow and ice behind gave me an extra dose of courage.The weather is gorgeous, but my game is another story. Apparently I'm a bit "sheddy." I discovered transferring my new swing from the shed to the course is a little more challenging than I expected. I also have no idea how far I hit my clubs and reading Bermuda greens is a new experience for me. But I'm simply thrilled to be warm and playing.I brought my Flip video, but not the charged batteries to power it. Oops! So here is my brief video of our round yesterday. I was delighted with this shot because it found the fairway, not sand. Have you ever dreams of a perfect golf swing like Tiger Woods or Ernie Els? Well me too! It is amazing how graceful and powerful swings they can do.
Having a good swing requires continual practice but here are three excellent tips on how to improve your golf swing very quickly.
1. Warm up.
Just like any sport, golf players will need to warm up before starting playing golf. This is the first mistake that many amateur golf players make. It is recommended to come early at the golf course and take a few minutes to stretch those muscles and warm up. This will make your muscles “recognize” that they are in for something and that they need to be ready. Taking a few swings in the driving range will also help you get tuned up and perform better. You won’t improve your golf swing without first warning up.
2. Regular Exercise.This is really important, not necessarily only for golf. Constantly exercising your body and muscles will keep them toned and ready for any activity. This
